Oils in our cremes - why and how to pick
Naturally derived facial oils have been a skin care staple for more than 3500 years.
They were used by Romans and Egyptians to provide radiance to skin that is changing with age while helping to protect it against dehydration.
All of our products use exceptional oils, not chemicals, to moisturize and protect from our harsh climate.
For best effect, apply to warm damp skin to ensure the oils lock in moisture.
To Improve Barrier Functions:
After menopause, skin loses more than half its lipids while collagen production slows, so skin becomes much drier.
Many of our oils contain vitamins and essential fatty acids that help boost your skin's lipid content and repair skin's barrier function.
Look for an oil rich in oleic acid to improve elasticity. Phytosterols found in Shea butter and avocado oil can also have a protective barrier effect.
to hydrate and soften fine lines, look for oils that are omega rich to quench skin, preferably with a high vitamin C content.
Protect skin:
look for antioxidant rich oils (hemp, grapeseed, rosehip, olive oil, & evening primrose) to fight free radicals and protect skin from external damage from sun, wind and cold weather. High flavonoid concentrations like calendula, sea buckthorn, and argan oil are rich with beta carotene and can help to repair damaged tissue, assisting in the rebuilding of collagen.
sensitive and inflamed skin:
look for oils with a large dose of EFA's (essential fatty acids) to help regenerate skin cells and reduce redness. The GLA's (gamma linolenic acid) found in evening primrose oil has anti-inflammatory properties.
extreme dry patches or bumps
Wheat Germ oil is naturally high in zinc. Coconut oil and any good seed oil (not nut oil) has proved to be the most effective with my customers over the last 15 years.
If you have a sensitivity are overwhelmed by a choice of which crème you should pick, contact us and we will do our best to help you choose.

Rosehips, chamomile, chickweed and dandelions
are only weeds if you don't use them.

Our herbs are dried and then seeped in room temperature oils on warm windowsills as opposed to cooking, so as not to compromise the integrity of the oils they are carried in.
Rosemary Oil Extract is added to prolong their shelf life.
We infuse many herbs that are used in our balms and cremes
